Easy to keep, easy to live with
Maitenence is easy. Here's exactly what it looks like.
- Use clean tap or mineral water. This wick-based design is built for it.
- Fill to the max line inside the tank, and no further.
- Refresh the water every few days and rinse the tank rather than topping up old water.
- Let it air-dry before it goes in a bag or a drawer.
- Swap the cotton wick when the mist thins. Spares are included.
- Add a few drops of essential oil to the water if you want the room to have a scent.
- Distilled water. The manufacturer advises against it here — it weakens the mist in this design.
- Overfilling past the max line.
- Pressing on the metal mist disc. Wipe it gently; don't scrub or scrape it.
- Submerging the base or running it under the tap.
- Leaving water sitting in the tank for days between uses.
- Setting it on paper, wood or electronics without a little clearance.

Within a few feet of where you sit or sleep, on a stable surface, with clearance above the mist vents. Keep it back from paper, screens and wood you care about — mist settles closest to the unit.
Four to eight hours depending on the mode — around four on continuous mist, closer to eight on intermittent. The built-in timer runs 2–8 hours and shuts off on its own when it's done or when the water runs low.
Both. It has an internal rechargeable battery and charges over USB, so it runs plugged in or cordless. Charge it and you can set it down somewhere with no outlet nearby.

Mist is heaviest closest to the unit, so give it clearance and keep it off surfaces you'd rather not wipe. Any fine pale residue you see comes from minerals in your water, not from the humidifier itself.
